I know how it feels. You keep showing up, putting in the effort, doing what you’re supposed to, and still end up questioning yourself. It’s tiring and thankless and a bit ridiculous. I’ve questioned whether I’m doing it wrong and realised that actually I’m just stuck in something that never really worked for people like us.
So, I’ve taken a step back, and am focused on building in my own space, at my own pace, with snacks and a sense of humour intact. You’re welcome any time.
(I’ve also managed to quote this post, but not sure what I did to do that 😂 )
The only element of Meta that gives me any kind of traction is Threads. I deleted my personal Facebook a couple of years ago. Instagram is a dead zone. LinkedIn is so nauseating I can barely bring myself to go there. But I went to a great networking event today and passed three pieces of business, which could have taken me months or even years via social media.
I’ve pretty much given in on LinkedIn, too. I get more word-of-mouth referrals.Insta and Facebook are pretty much run on auto pilot. Scheduled at the beginning of the month and then ignored. I like it here, though, and have plans for evolution!
Great post Keith. I’ve been feeling a similar way for a while now. I was told that an email list won’t really work for what I do, but I think I might ignore that and give it a go. Makes sense.

Hi Vicki, good to have you here. What was the reason given when someone said an email list wouldn't work?
Just said it doesn’t work for my industry.
